A couple of weeks ago while driving to the movies with my Dad I jokingly commented, "Are you ready to tithe some more money to the church of Hollywood Dad?" He laughed. My comment may sound a bit silly and perhaps a little sarcastic, but isn't that what we are doing when we go to a movie, download a favorite episode or song to a device, purchase the lastest novel or must have gadget? This got me thinking. Where's my entertainment money going? Is it going to entertainment that is spiritually uplfting? Will the things I'm investing my money and time into bring me closer to God or pull me further away from Him? I'm I sending a message to Hollywood that says that I want God centered, positive entertainment? Or, am I saying, "I don't care...I'll just do whatever is popular?"
We, the consumers, are the ones who dictate to the entertainment industry what we want to see and hear by what we buy from them and what we allow them to create. Think about that the next time you purchase something for your entertainment. Ask yourself, "Do I want to hear and see more stuff like this?" If the answer is no, then find a more positive alternative to invest your money into. You have the power to change Hollywood for the better.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
